Thinking about a Home Extension or Eco-Home?
About Peter Markos
I’m Peter Markos, a RIBA Chartered Architect with 10+ years of experience based in Birmingham, specialising in eco-homes, architect-designed holiday lets, and high-quality home extensions.
I studied architecture in London and trained at UCL, and I’ve spent over a decade working across residential design, construction, and delivery. In 2022, I was awarded the Airbnb OMG Grant, which allowed me to design, build, and operate my own architect-designed holiday let. Running that business alongside my practice means I understand projects commercially and operationally, not just architecturally.
I run a small, technology-led practice and use Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) where they genuinely add value, helping keep projects efficient, accurate, and cost-aware. I believe good design comes from working intelligently within real constraints, not ignoring them.
I work directly with every client, one-to-one, from the outset. You won’t be passed to an assistant or junior architect, just a clear, honest conversation focused on making sensible decisions.
Outside of work, I cycle most days and enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and friends, often visiting National Trust sites around the country.
What happens when early decisions are made well?
You only build what you actually need, not what looked good on paper
Budgets are set realistically before costs are locked in
New income or living space is created without overbuilding
Homes are designed to adapt over time, reducing the need for future alteration
This is what the feasibility call is designed to test; before you commit time, money, or planning risk.
