The architectural furniture is made from Walnut, brass, and ebony, with some components 3D printed for precision. When connected to the ground, the tool hits the drum, which records the sonic output. In supporting this expedition ritual of sound, the instrument is lightweight, and the vessels are hollowed with a ribbed structure, preventing warping. A cast brass piece is embedded in the vessel, enhancing sonic output. The use of the Instrument becomes a performance as the entire events resonate within the mind, and onlookers inevitably imagine the ritual. Site and geological research are undertaken to facilitate the enigmatic potential of the Instrument. For over a year, we immersed ourselves in the art of traditional wood carving, a technique essential to creating finely crafted furniture. Collaborating with Kashmiri artisans, we embraced a hands-on approach to designing and making the furniture pieces. This project mixes contemporary design with traditional decorative elements, marrying precision with age-old artisanal beauty. The chair uses Kashmiri walnut and the local Srinagar region's masterful craftsmanship, which has sadly been a declining industry. However, the addition to UNESCO's list of Crafts and Folk Arts for 2021, it is hoped to help revive the old art. Built to be efficient, quickly installed, and easy to disassemble, the cabin embodies a flexible and cost-effective design approach. The Monocoque Cabin. Sustainable materials play a central role: the structure uses reclaimed timber for the decking, recycled insulation, and is finished externally with a combination of cedar shingles, oak featherboards, and a durable zinc roof. Inside, birch plywood forms a warm, natural interior, while marine plywood enhances weather resistance. Designed to be fully accessible from both a wheelchair positioning and standing, the cabinet celebrates Middle Eastern and Ottoman-style influences while using modern techniques to deliver a refined, functional feature. Clad in copper, the extension introduces a refined material contrast with the original brickwork. The exterior combines high-quality cedar shingles, chosen for their durability and ability to weather beautifully over time, with a copper finish that wraps to create a unique outdoor shower space, whilst protecting the exposed edges of the structure. Above, a zinc roof forms a robust protective shell, allowing the building to require minimal maintenance. Internally, the sauna is designed as a calm, immersive space, where natural materials and controlled lighting create a warm, restorative atmosphere. The compact footprint makes it suitable for a wide range of settings, from rural landscapes to garden plots. The design has longevity at its core. Like the original Monocoque Cabin, the sauna is conceived not as a temporary product but as a durable architectural object built to last decades. Because of its modest scale and flexibility, the Monocoque Sauna can also act as a natural companion to an existing holiday home or cabin, enhancing the guest experience and adding long-term value to a hospitality property.
