About Markos Design Workshop – Eco-Home & Luxury Holiday Let Architects

Markos Design Workshop is a RIBA-chartered architecture practice specialising in eco-homes and luxury holiday lets.

We help clients maximise rental income through sustainable, bespoke design. Our practice is nationally recognised – and even gaining international attention – for our expertise in advanced timber architecture and environmentally conscious design, integrating every project thoughtfully with nature.

We value direct, one-to-one relationships with our clients. Clear communication is at the heart of how we work, ensuring responsiveness to the site, context, timelines, and budgets while delivering the best possible outcome for our clients’ needs.

As a young, innovative practice, we take a technology-first approach to both design and construction, embracing Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA). These approaches offer clients better value for money, faster build times, and a higher level of construction precision.

We believe good design should be accessible to everyone. A key part of being a proficient architect is working effectively within the material, time, and budgetary constraints of each project.

MDW adopts a unique, multidisciplinary approach to architecture rooted in our carpentry background. This gives us an understanding of the integration of materials and structures, enhancing our ability to determine 'what will work', both from a financial and construction perspective. Our proficiency in this domain makes us a favoured choice among clients, engineering firms, and contractors.

Alongside our architecture services, we also run a luxury holiday home letting business based around a unique cabin product we designed ourselves. This gives us valuable, first-hand insight into the financial realities of developing and running holiday lets – knowledge we pass on to benefit our clients.

With a background in carpentry, I craft eco-friendly homes, designed around you.

Peter Markos – Your Architect & Project Partner

I am committed to overseeing every project from its inception to its completion. Designing, preparing construction information, and witnessing spaces take shape.

With me, you won't become just a cog in a corporate wheel, nor will you be relegated to an assistant role. It's a collaborative journey between us to realise your project’s full potential.

My background in architecture spans over ten years, with experience at renowned firms such as Hawkins/Brown in London, Howells in Birmingham, and SPA Design in New Delhi. I completed my degrees at the University of Sheffield and University College London, and my diploma at the Architectural Association.

Additionally, my skills extend to carpentry, a craft I practice, as some projects have been undertaken as self-builds. This dual expertise as an architect, developer and carpenter gives me a comprehensive understanding of construction, detailing and financial constraints that can best serve our clients. This blend of capabilities ensures I can deliver your project so that it is not only visually appealing and financially viable but also well executed.
